Suppressing the Cross Terms of the Wigner Distribution with an Adaptive Frequency Smoothing Window

چکیده
A method for reducing the cross-terms in the WD with an adaptive frequency smoothing window is proposed in this paper. By using the short time Fourier spectrum of the input signal and some simple preprocessing steps, such as smoothing and peak labeling, the proposed method adaptively calculates the width of the frequency smoothing window. The simulation results of the linear frequency modulated signal validate its effectiveness.

This paper is concerned with a synthesis study of the fast Fourier transform (FFT), the short time Fourier transform (STFT and the Wigner distribution (WD) in analysing the phonocardiogram signal (PCG) or heart cardiac sounds. The FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) can provide a basic understanding of the frequency contents of the heart sounds. The STFT is obtained by calculating the Fourier tran...

In this study, we proposed a joint time-frequency distribution of suppressing cross-terms aiming at cross-terms interference of Wigner-Ville distribution. According to the analyzed signal, the Wigner-Ville distribution and Smooth Pseudo Wigner-Ville distribution can be obtained. Moreover, the prototype of timefrequency distribution can be obtained by non-linear filter for Smooth Pseudo Wigner-V...

In this paper we present two new methods for texture segmentation and analysis using local spectral methods. The first approach to the problem is to use a modular pattern detection in textured images based on the use of a PseudoWigner Distribution (PWD) followed by a decorrelation procedure that consists of a principal component analyzer (for texture segmentation). The goal is to combine the ad...

Cross-terms lie between two auto-components and are oscillatory, with their frequencies increasing with increasing distance in time-frequency between the two components. The cross-terms can have a peak value as high as twice that of the auto-components. A Wigner distribution of a two-component signal is shown in Figure 1. In this figure, it is easy to separate the auto-components from the cross...
متن کاملAdaptive Optimal Kernel Smooth-Windowed Wigner-Ville Distribution for Digital Communication Signal
Time-frequency distributions (TFDs) are powerful tools to represent the energy content of time-varying signal in both time and frequency domains simultaneously but they suffer from interference due to cross-terms. Various methods have been described to remove these cross-terms and they are typically signal-dependent. Thus, there is no single TFD with a fixed window or kernel that can produce ac...
